Great Lakes acquired a 44 acre property at the northwest corner of Weber Road and Lily Cache Lane in Bolingbrook, Illinois in July 2000, as a part of a multi-phase 77 acre acquisition. This property was a portion of the excess land that was previously owned by Boyd Clow, who pioneered a grass airstrip at this location in the 1940’s.

The Country Aire name is a tribute to the name of the local restaurant that Mr. Clow operated for the benefit of local pilots, air enthusiasts and neighbors alike. The airport continues under municipal ownership.

After Great Lakes completed annexation, zoning, design and site improvements for the property, restaurant land sales were completed with Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Wendy’s Hamburgers and KFC/Pizza Hut. Retail pad sales were closed with Lowe’s Home Improvement and Aldi Foods. A bank land sale was done with Hawthorne Credit Union. Great Lakes has recently completed the construction of a 9,238 sf retail building on the last remaining Weber Road outlot.

The portion of the land that was non-retail was sold to Wilderness Falls for an entertainment facility and to the airport as a location of the Illinois Aviation Museum.

The final available land parcel is the 8.4 acre portion that has frontage on the west side of Weber Road, between Lowe’s and Aldi. This property is zoned B-2, is subdivided and has been improved to allow for an immediate build-out. Stormwater control and underground utilities are in place to serve the site. The land is available for build-to-suit, ground-lease or sale with the ultimate building size of up to 75,000 sf.
